IT’S mission accomplished for Warrnambool brothers Aaron and Christopher Gillin.
In May this year the brothers, who suffer from Duchenne muscular dystrophy and are confined to wheelchairs, launched a Facebook campaign to meet American musician Kid Rock when he toured Australia with rock group Bon Jovi.
The campaign came to a close on Saturday night when the brothers were invited backstage to meet their idol after his Melbourne performance.
Aaron was still on cloud nine when he returned home to Warrnambool last night.
“It’s still hard to believe we actually got to meet him,” Aaron told The Standard.
“He was really nice, very easy to talk to. He’s one of the nicest musicians I’ve ever met.
“He sat and talked to us like we were old friends for about 40 minutes.”
Aaron said they had been given email addresses to stay in touch with Kid Rock.
“His manager gave us his email address and Kid said to make sure we keep in touch,” he said.
The boys’ aunt Jan Smith said the night was “better than great”.
Ms Smith said after the meeting they were told Bon Jovi lead singer Jon Bon Jovi had upgraded the boys seats to “right up the front”.
“Bon Jovi said ‘they can’t be all the way up where the wheelchair seats are’, so he arranged to have us moved down the front,” Ms Smith said.
“We were right beside the stage and during the show Bon Jovi looked at the boys and gave them the thumbs up.
“It was a fantastic night, one we all won’t forget.”

When Kid Rock hit the stage at Voodoo Fest 2013, we were expecting to see a few things: a giant American flag, a girl in a bikini top and a ton of whiskey.
While all three of those showed up one way or another before the end of his spirited 75-minute set Sunday Night in City Park, there were also a few curious things we noticed on stage. For example, did you know the dude travels with a saxophonist? Exactly.
From his opening monologue—"Lord, with the power of music you have saved our souls"—to the final frenetic moments of his last song, "Bawitdaba," Kid put on a hell of a show. He also served up a five surprises we weren't exactly expecting.
(1) An awesome saxophone player wearing a lot of gold jewelry. His name is Dave McMurray and he's an accomplished Detroit-based jazz saxophonist. He first connected with Kid Rock in 2007 and they've been hitting the road together ever since.

This hip hop shit in his pocket and still the shit got
That white trash traffic and gridlock
Shit happened like a six blocks from a Kid Rock
Insane Clown Posse Concert in mid October

Dr. Cynthia Trosin apparently has a thing for Kid Rock-autographed undergarments.
For the second year in a row, the McLaren Macomb physician, with a family practice in Clinton Township, paid out big bucks for a bustier signed by the rocker, along with a framed print during the BRAvo community fundraiser held at Penna’s of Sterling Heights on Tuesday evening.
“Yes, I like Kid Rock,” Trosin said dining at a table with her staffers. “But my main reason is to help get the word out about free mammograms for uninsured women.” Last year, Trosin shelled out $5,000 for a Kid Rock-signed black bra. On Tuesday, she bid $4,500 for the bustier. The new piece will be on display in her office, alongside the first item she purchased for her patients to check out.
